Picklers will need to estimate emissions from their tanks for new EPA reporting requirements. Esco has available, free of charge, an Excel spreadsheet for estimating emissions of steam, hydrochloric acid, and nitric/hydrofluoric acids from both open and closed pickle tanks. The spreadsheet includes all the formulae and intermediate calculations, and includes references to the sources of data. Losses from sulfuric tanks are, unfortunately, not amenable to this type of calculation, being due to mechanical entrainment, rather than vapor losses.

calculation has been corrected, and there are new features compared to
earlier versions.
